The New Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger store is a must-visit at Yorkdale

I have to admit that when I first heard about a new Tommy Hilfiger spawn-store opening at Yorkdale, I wasn't all that excited. As a young girl, obsessed with fashion, I was never a huge fan of Americana, stars and stripes, and polo shirts – Tommy Hilfiger was my father’s brand, not mine. All that changed when I first walked into the Tommy store last week.

The stars and stripes are ever-so present, but this time they aren’t overpoweringly obvious in each and every garment. Instead, there are lovely cocktail dresses with tiny star print that are more Kate Moss than Uncle Sam, flirty polka-dot skirts perfect for cocktails with the girls, red and white striped sweaters for the guys, beautiful costume jewelry, comfy knitted cardigans, and colorful suede flats. Tommy is very much a contemporary fashions store, full of beautiful, well-made, well-priced clothes for a modern young fashion lover.

I am instantly smitten by its very stylish selection, from Burberry-esque beige knotted skirts, to the very J-Brand cargo skinnies, this store is definitely not turning a deaf ear on the year’s most-coveted trends. I love how Tommy inspires me to try some of the latest trends without having to spend a fortune on new clothes.

And that’s another surprising factor about Tommy - its pricing. While, I’ve always found Tommy Hilfiger overpriced, at Tommy I am able to find great value for my fashion finds. Skirts are priced at $69, cargo pants are $79, dresses go for around $169, while ballerina flats and purses are $69. All these prices sound imminently better, when I hear that everything in the store is additional 30% off! Need some inspiration for the holiday season that won’t show up on every other girl in town and won’t break the bank? Then Tommy is a good bet.

With friendly service, fun shopping atmosphere, and a great selection of fashionable clothes, Tommy at Yorkdale is surely a great addition to my favorite mall in Toronto and should absolutely be on every fashion lover’s list of must-visit stores. That is, unless Americana and polo shirts come back in fashion.
