1. How does the Planning Program work? |
Each client needs to register with our Wardrobe Planning Program. You may do this either by calling the Yorkdale Fashion Office at (416) 789 4255, or at our website: www.yorkdale.com.
Once your information has been assessed and matched with the most appropriate consultant, an appointment is booked. You will meet your consultant at Yorkdale's Customer Service Desk.
Then your consultant will take you into some of the Yorkdale Fashion stores that she thinks will be most appropriate for you. She will:
1. Introduce you to new merchandise
2. Have you try on various garments that she thinks
will be most suitable for you
3. Show you how to coordinate items together
4. Answer your fashion questions |
2. Am I obliged to buy something? |
Our expert consultants are not on commission. They have no affiliation to any particular store. They are employed by Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
We believe at Yorkdale, that some people are overwhelmed and frustrated with the whole shopping experience. It is our desire to ease that frustration and make shopping fun again. We believe that an informed, educated, inspired customer, is a happy and confident customer. We hope you do shop, but you are under no obligation to do so. |
3. Can I book an appointment for someone else? |
In order that each client is assessed and matched with the appropriate consultant, it is recommended that clients book their own appointment. |
4. I'd like to bring a friend to the appointment with me, is that OK? |
In order that the fashion consultant serves your specific needs and that you maximize her expertise in a limited amount of time, it is advised that you come to the appointment alone. |
5. Can I bring clothes with me that I want to match up with other things? |
If there is a key item of clothing you are tying to co-ordinate or work with, you are welcome to bring it along. |
6. Will the consultant do my colours? |
No, we do not subscribe to the "colours" rules because we believe they are too restricting. While having your colours done may be a helpful guideline, we believe in a more "holistic" approach to finding the fashions that work for you. We take into consideration the elements of colour, cut, fabric, fit, and appropriateness. |
7. Is someone going to tell me all about fashion? |
Yes, but this is not a fashion seminar. This program is a wardrobe planning service designed to help make your wardrobe work for you. Our objective is to help save you time and money, by avoiding costly mistakes. You will be introduced to the most appropriate new clothes for the current fashion season, and learn how to integrate them into your current wardrobe. |
8. Can I book a double appointment? |
In certain cases, depending on availability, a double appointment may be warranted. |
9. Do you have appointments for men? |
Yes, we have many satisfied male clients. |
10. What should I wear to the appointment? |
Wear the appropriate undergarments for what you will be trying on. Dress comfortably and travel light because you will be doing a lot of walking throughout the centre. |
11. Is there anything I can do to prepare for this appointment? |
Yes, edit your closet! Begin by organizing all like items together i.e.) all jackets hanging together, all pants, all skirts, all blouses etc. Eliminate all items you have not worn in the last two years, that are worn or tired looking or that no longer fit. From what is left, take an inventory of what you would like to work with and what you think you may need. |
12. Do I need to bring anything? |
It is helpful to start a "fashion file". Begin by clipping pictures from current fashion magazines, of looks you would like to achieve at the price points that you can afford. Add to this file an inventory of items in your wardrobe that really work for you. The more information you provide your consultant, the more effectively she can help you. |
13. Will the consultant tell me what to do with my hair and makeup? |
If asked, the consultant will offer general tips. However, for those who feel they need something more extensive, the consultants will give recommendations as to where more in- depth direction may be found. |
14. Will the consultant help me find shoes and accessories? |
Yes, if time permits. |
15. Can I book a second appointment? |
Yes, depending on availability, if the consultant thinks it is warranted, a second appointment may be booked by calling the fashion office or contacting our website. |
16. What qualifications do the Yorkdale consultant's possess? |
Donna Demarco, Sook Jeon, and Jean Flemming have all been top Canadian models and, as a result, have worked with this country's leading industry professionals, fashion designers and stylists. Their vast knowledge of all aspects of the business brings an expertise to this program that is unsurpassed.
